Cahors was once a Roman settlement, and there are significant clues all over the city as to the way that the Roman’s lived and what type of buildings they constructed. For those who enjoy Roman architecture, it is well worth visiting this archway. It is made mainly of stone, but has a series of red bricks mounted within it, a classic style for Roman buildings. It is thought that the grand arch would have once been the main entrance to the Gallo-Roman baths that stood nearby.
