One of the most famous archaeological discoveries to be made in France was made very close to Chatillon and has for many years provided a huge body of debate and research for the scientists who have descended on the area. It was only about six kilometres to the north of the community that a large collection of 6th Century BC artefacts were unearthed, with all the hallmarks of Celtic and Greek origins. Much of the story of this dig and some of the artefacts are on display in this centrally located museum.
