Paul Cezanne is of course one of the greatest artists ever to have lived in France. He loved the Aix-en-Provence area because of its beauty and access to the exceptional countryside that he loved to paint so much. He kept a studio in the town for much of his life. After his death, it was purchased and preserved exactly as he left it. There are some examples of his works on display, but more than anything, the experience is feeling the presence of the great artist in this place.
