This beautiful chateau is one of the more important buildings in the region. It was constructed in the 14th Century, and much of Chambery was built around the castle to serve the needs of the duke who lived within. The chateau is still home to the county council of the region. It is possible to tour the castle grounds and the interior once an hour with a guide during the summer months. Times of tours vary, so it is best to check with the Tourist Information Centre.
