Strangely, Colmar hasn’t been a bishopric for a great deal of time, yet people still refer to this magnificent church as ‘the cathedral’. The amazing construction is one of the most intimate Gothic style basilicas ever to have been built in France. One of the most famous features of the church is the enormous Mongol-style spire which was added around 1572, and can be seen from almost anywhere in the town. The interior is just as exciting as the outside, lavishly decorated.
