Guarding the western tip of the fortified chateau in the heart of Chinon, this castle building was the last of the major building projects within the walls. It is largely intact, although there has been significant damage done to the building over the many hundreds of years it has stood. The beautiful structure is especially inviting at night when it is lit up by a series of up lighters that make the castle look even more majestic in the skyline above the town.
