Situated just outside of Chambord is this large piece of forest land that has been walled off from the rest of the countryside. Taking up fifty four square miles around Chambord, the estate was originally built for the private hunting retreats of the President of France and his selected guests. These days few presidents are that keen on hunting and therefore it is an area that isn’t used as much as it could be. Certain sections are open to walkers and ramblers outside of the shooting seasons. It is an extraordinarily beautiful piece of land.
