This museum is located at the heart of the old city in Chartres, in the shadow of the fine cathedral. Within the series of exhibitions, housed in a good looking municipal style building, are collections of paintings and sculptures from across France and Europe. The main focus of the collection is oil on canvass work from the last five hundred years, although there are some more contemporary pieces on show. From time to time the museum hosts visiting exhibitions from across the world.
