This marvellous chateau dominates the skyline of the small town of Briancon. Positioned on a large hill that overlooks the old town, the chateau has been the home to dignitaries of the mountainous area for many centuries, the town growing around the castle to service the needs of the dukes. The interesting building is open to be toured by a guide in the summer months only. It is well worth taking the guided tour as it is informative and allows access that would otherwise be denied.
