When you walk around the streets of Chambery, you cannot help but continually stumbling upon references to a Géneral de Boigne. He lived in the late 18th Century and early 19th Century and was a local man who made a huge amount of money trading in Eat India. He decided that he wanted to give a little back to his home town and funded many philanthropic projects, including this delightful and lasting monument of four elephants.
