The history of Alencon in the modern age is dissected in this interesting museum, close to the Pont Neuf. Alencon was occupied by the Nazi’s for several years in the 1940s and the people of the town suffered a great deal of hardship. Both documents and artefacts within the museum reveal the struggle that went on amongst the ordinary people to resist this aggression, Named after the man who liberated the town, General Leclerc, the museum celebrates the return to free rule of the community
