The French Foreign Legion are one of the most famous and talked about parts of any army in any country in the world. So much is the Foreign Legion respected that there have been numerous films and television series based on it. Corsica, of course, has always had a tempestuous relationship with France and this statue marks the final acceptance of the people of the island, that they are part of France, and celebrates some of the great institutions that it represents.
