It was the brother and sister team of Jeanne and Maurice Magnin who first assembled this collection at the end of the 19th Century. They wanted to put together a truly world class art collection that local people and visitors would marvel at. The museum is housed in a great looking 17th Century mansion house which is almost as impressive as the contents, a vast and varied collection of European art spanning many hundreds of years.
