Notre-Dame Cathedral is one of the central focuses of the old city in Avignon. A beautiful towering medieval church, it is an imposing sight as you enter the old walled city area. Built over a period of several hundred years, the church has been added to and developed, by many architects and locals since its conception. A working place of worship, the cathedral is open to tourists and visitors throughout the year, outside of times of prayer.
