The Palace of Justice is a grand looming building that stands in the very centre of the old city of Avignon. Carved from local stone and an architectural masterpiece in its own right, the building has a long and rich history. It has for centuries been the place where the revolutionary laws and principles that were developed in the 19th Century were handed down. It is possible on occasion to go inside the building and glimpse at the elaborate and ornate decorations.
