Work was started on constructing the Palace of Justice in Dijon around the end of the 15th Century. It was such a vast and ambitious project to create a fitting building for the empowered city at the heart of Burgundy that is wasn’t completed until well into the 16th Century. After this, the palace was home to the powerful Burgundy parliament, which sat and presided over a variety of topics, including making essential decisions to do with war, and ultimately the formation of modern France.
