The other part of the Chateau de Chantilly to the Grand Chateau, is, as you might expect, the Petit Chateau. It is thought that the first foundations for this building were laid in 1560, a place for Anne de Montmorency to live. This person is well known in certain French circles as they served as high commissioner to no less than six kings, a diplomat and a warrior who eventually died in battle. It was because of these high accolades that such a fine house was built.
