In the summertime this forest becomes one of the most popular places for tourists to roam when they visit this area of mountainous France. Of course in winter time the majority of the forest is impassable because of the heavy snowfall, but when it melts away, it leaves a vast expanse of unspoilt woodland with animals and plants that have seen out the winter in the thick undergrowth coming to life and filling the air with noise and smells.
