This small museum is close to the hearts of the people of Dijon, because it is dedicated to one of their own, a man from Dijon, who went on to collect accolades from around the world for being such a fine sculptor. Francois Rude, after his death, was immortalised by the local authority, who believed that a comprehensive permanent collection of his work was not only essential for the cultural heritage of the city, but to attract tourists from across the world.
