The original church was built in 1547 and is one of the oldest and most historic pieces of religious architecture in the area. However the church was damaged on several occasions in the early 20th Century and underwent a major overhaul and reconstruction process in the 1920s. The result is a fine looking church that is a popular place of worship with locals and visitors as well as being a great place to look around as a tourist.
