This wonderful cathedral is one of the most impressive and imposing buildings in the old town area of Ajaccio, and is one of the larger churches on the island of Corsica. The foundations to the church were laid in the early to mid 16th Century and there are signs of the influence Napoleon had on the construction of the redeveloped front façade. There are several artistic treasures within the building including the ‘Vierge au Sacré Couer’ by Eugene Delacroix.
