Staircase of the King of Aragon
Escalier du Roi d’Aragon, Bonifacio 20169 - France

Map
This wonderful staircase is an architectural masterpiece located on the south-western corner of the citadel, leading down to the sea. There is a legend that the one hundred and eighty seven steps were built in 1420 by a large group of troops from Aragon during a siege of the town. Whether this is true or not, the views from the staircase are breathtaking, looking out over the cliffs and into the sea. Beware; the staircase is closed in high winds and stormy weather.
