Dijon, and the region of Burgundy, has always had a large population of Jewish people. This fine synagogue was constructed in 1879. It has an enormous dome on the roof which can be seen from all across the city, making the synagogue a place of symbolic architecture as well as a place of worship. The amazing building is built in a mixture of Byzantine and Roman styles, making it a great place to visit, on the edge of the historic centre of Dijon.
