The Dyke

The River Ouveze has over the centuries offered great life to the town, but on occasions in the winter also offered great destruction, and when flooded has caused havoc and spread disease with disastrous consequences. This dyke was originally built out of earth, but then it was replaced with a stone structure in the 18th Century. Today the dyke is still visible but has been renamed in honour of the Prince of Monaco.
