This grand tower is the tallest in the city of Cahors. It was constructed in the 14th Century, originally as the private home of Jacques Duese, but then later it became the home of Pope John XXII. This pope was extremely significant as he was one of the Avignon popes who emerged during the great schism. He did a lot for the city, including opening Cahors University in 1331. The imposing tower stands at over thirty four metres in height.
