The Tour Saint Cathérine is one of the original lookout posts built into the ramparts of the old fortified town. Dinan was for many years an affluent prize for aggressive armies in Brittany and therefore had to be well defended against attack, with a large town wall and a series of lookout posts. Only a few of the towers have survived in their original state, and this one is one of the most popular for visitors to climb, achieving a wonderful view of the area.
