There has always been a large Jewish community in the town of Epernay, associated with the Champagne industry. This good looking synagogue is one of the finer religious buildings in the town and has been commended by many architectural enthusiasts for its use of local materials and craft skills. It is a busy active place of worship, but visitors are welcomed by the local people to look around the interesting building.
