There are several walking trails and a small road that lead up the mountain side out of the old city towards Fort de la Bastille in Grenoble. However, the most stylish and exciting way to reach this amazing structure is by cable car from the heart of the old town. The journey is not only the quickest route, but in itself offers a great view of the old town and approach to the old fort, not to mention the panoramic views of the Alps as you rise.
