Located on the north side of the chateau, these formal gardens are some of the most delightful in the town. They were created by Catherine de Médicis, who spent absolutely no wasted time, making sure that everything in the gardens was perfectly planed to compliment everything else. Surrounded by roaming peacocks, the gardens have a large marble fountain at the centre, dedicated to Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt.
