Oval Courtyard
Chateau Fontainebleau, Fontainebleau 77300 - France

Map
Although this is technically part of the main chateau, the five courtyards that have been built onto the side of the castle over the years tell us as much about the fascinating history of the building as the main central section. Strangely this courtyard is no longer in an oval shape, but is U shaped. This is due to the construction work that Henry IV decided to undertake. The oldest and most beautifully decorated of the courtyards, it is a must for any visitor to the town.
