Tony Garnier was one of the best known architects in France in the 20th Century. He created this vast structure of glass and steel at the heart of the city of Lyon, between 1909 and 1914. It was used as the main meat market of the city until the mid 1970s, when it was classified as an historic monument. Since that time it has become one of the premier entertainment venues in the city, providing a vast concert hall for an eclectic programme of music events throughout the year.
