S. Maupin was the architect charged with the formidable charge of creating a building to house the administration of Lyon, befitting of the position of the community as a leading trading city in France. The result of the 1640s project was one of the most magnificent municipal buildings in France, a grand palace which stands out at the heart of the Place de la Comedie, at the heart of the city. A popular visitor attraction and a functional building, it is a must-see.
