This fantastic church stands close to the river and was designed by the prominent architect L. Rioux in the 18th Century. In fact the building belongs to the neighbouring convent but has become recognised as a place of worship and a landmark in its own right in Lyon. The church is built in a classical style which was inspired by the discovery and excavation of Pompeii and Herculaneum that took place around the same time. A brilliant piece of work it reminds many of an ancient temple.
