The Ecclesiastic Dome has been a regular feature of Lyonnais architecture next to the cathedral at the heart of Lyon since the 15th Century when it was constructed by Charles de Bourbon. This beautiful palace is a great example of civil Gothic architecture, a type there is very little of in the country, let alone Lyon. The imposing building was developed further in the 18th Century by the well recognised architect Soufflot, making it even grander and more interesting than the original vision was intended to be.
