According to a good collection of medieval texts that exist on the subject, there were a great deal of convents in the heart of the old are of Lyon, many of which dated back to the 11th Century. This fine building was one of those convents and has enjoyed several incarnations throughout the long and illustrious time it has stood on this spot. Today, the building is used as one of the fine art museums of the city, exhibiting a good collection of art from the last five hundred years.
