This beautiful piece of municipal architecture was the responsibility of architect A. Louvier and took nearly eleven years to build. It was designed and constructed in the late 19th Century along very similar lines to the Hotel de Ville and the Palais du Commerce in the city. The construction is designed to represent the importance of the Rhone area of France and act as a beacon for all those who pass to the great position the communities of this area have held in French life for many centuries gone by.
