Loches is a charming medieval town, on every street corner there are things to look at that date back many hundreds if not thousands of years. This, the Royal Gate, is one of the most important pieces of architecture in the town, because it remains the only opening gate that allows entrance into the citadel area of the city. It is a beautiful piece of architecture and is flanked on either side by two 13th Century towers that make the entrance way appear even more imposing than it would have done standing alone.
