There was a church that stood on this site before the current building was constructed. That first church was built in 1928 and was one of the more modern ecclesiastical structures in the area. Strangely that church only lasted about fifty years before it was demolished, to be replaced by an even newer, and interesting modern structure, that we see today. This church was built in 1972 and is a celebrated piece of architecture by some and derided by others.
