This wonderful church is situated in the Cité Quarter of the city, significantly separate from the Chateau Quarter which lies to the north-west. The cathedral was begun in 1273 and is famous for being one of the few Gothic churches to be constructed this far south in France, most being built north of the Loire River. The church was under construction for nearly six hundred years, and a visitor you won’t be surprised, the attention to detail is fantastic. The Portail St. Jean is one of the significant internal features.
