One of many famous monuments built in the 17th Century to glorify the monarchy, this exceptional piece of architecture was erected in 1691. It is noted for the beautiful carved details around the arch, including a set of medallions which were added in 1773 to celebrate the achievements of King Louis XIV. It is possible during the summer months to ascend the narrow staircase inside the ach that leads to a viewing platform on top.
