One of the best ways to see Metz is by navigating the River Moselle which surrounds large parts of the old town. Although they are only available on a seasonal basis, there are several boat hire companies that operate from the Quai des Régates, just north of the main park area. They offer a variety of vessels to rent for a varied amount of time from an hour to a day. There are rowing boats and motor boats for those wishing to venture a little further a field.
