There was a primitive cathedral built on this site as early as the 4th Century, but several major disasters have meant that nothing really remains of this building. The present cathedral was constructed in the 12th Century and is a magnificent Gothic structure which has been built in a trapezium shape, a quite unusual looking building. The amazing stained glass that can be found on the cathedral has made it a popular attraction for many centuries.
