The Dobrée Museum is essentially a large museum of social and political history, although officially it is a collection without portfolio. The museum has a vast collection of classical and medieval antiquities, ranging from musical instruments and clothes, to weapons and historical documents. The collection is highly prized by the local community as there are many artefacts that have been saved from the destruction of the French revolution. Most notably the heart of Anne de Bretagne is held in the museum in a golden case.
