The Metz Theatre is situated on a small island in the river on the edge of the old town area of Metz. On one side of the magnificent Place de la Comédie, the theatre was begun construction in 1738 and took around twenty years to complete. It is therefore the oldest theatre in France to still be operational. It hosts an interesting and varied programme of events throughout the year, ranging from traditional plays to musical recitals and events.
