Built over a five year period fro 1667 to 1672, this amazing building was designed and constructed by eminent architect Claude Perrault. The building was the first ever observatory anywhere in the world and is therefore a most precious piece of history that is well preserved. Within the open galleries of the observatory a mixture of instruments associated with stargazing, dating from the earliest to the most up to date.
