The centre of any French city’s cultural life must be the opera house, and Nantes is no exception. This fine neo-classical structure is one of the centrepieces of the Place Grasin at the heart of the city. The opera puts on a large selection of operas throughout the year, many of the companies travelling across Europe to play the venue. It is best to phone ahead or visit the opera in person to obtain tickets as it is such a popular fixture.
