At night, there are few more impressive public squares in this region, if not in France, thanks to the brilliant illuminations in the area. The square is one of the largest and most important in the city, named after Stanislaw Leszcynski, the man who laid the square out. His statue stands at the centre of the square, making a wonderful centrepiece to an architectural gem of the modern age. The square attracts tourists and locals to the many cafes and bars that surround it throughout the year.
