Poitiers is the most important community in the Vienne prefecture in France, a privilege and a responsibility that the city takes very seriously. The prefecture building has been constructed to be suitably grand, displaying the hallmarks of a government structure, celebrating the republic through high stone facades and careful craftsmanship. Inside the building there are a few paintings and antiques of note from the region.
