This area of the city has been a matter of controversy and debate amongst locals and architectural enthusiasts since it was built in the 1980s. The idea was to create a new modern area for the city, linking the Polygon with the river. Designed by Ricardo Bofill, the unmistakable stone edifices are meant to represent a neo-classical environment at the heart of the city. The area has been adopted by many tourists as a place of meeting, ideal for escaping the busy streets and watching the world go by.
