Situated to the north of the main railway station in Metz, you will find the extremely interesting Quartier de la Gare. The area, which includes Avenue Foch and Rue Gambetta was built by the Germans when they controlled the town in the period at the end of the 19th Century, and before the First World War in the 20th Century. Interestingly, the are therefore looks like a different town to the rest of Metz because the German architects and builders employed different style and even different materials to build the houses.
